The Jean Monnet Module of the School of Government in Pergamino

During the month of August, the Jean Monnet Module of the School of Government organized the International Current Affairs Lecture Series: Europe and the World . Comprising three sessions held at the Joaquín V. Menéndez Library in Pergamino, the series aimed to bring the most relevant debates on the contemporary European and global agenda to Argentina. The talks, coordinated by Santiago Ardisson and featuring special guests, combined academic analysis with practical implications for the city, in an accessible and participatory format. The series, declared of municipal interest, was co-organized with the Municipality of Pergamino, specifically with Silvana Pirchi , head of the Open Government program.

The opening ceremony, on August 8 , was dedicated to Europe facing major global challenges . Santiago Ardisson presented the role of the European Union as an international actor, accompanied by Ignacio Ibáñez , a graduate in International Relations and consultant for the Public Diplomacy Program of the European Union Delegation in Argentina, who highlighted the opportunities for cooperation with Europe.

On August 18, the second meeting, "Where is the World Heading? Perspectives from the Global South," took place . Following the coordinator's initial presentation, special guest Sofía del Carril , director of the Master's Program in International Relations and the Center for Global Governance Studies at Austral University, analyzed the emergence of a possible multipolar order and the role of actors such as China, India, Russia, and the G20. Prior to the conference, a working meeting was held in the Oval Room of City Hall with Pablo Majul , legal advisor to the Municipality, and Silvana Pirchi , during which the draft ordinance on the European Union-Mercosur Agreement was presented. A visit was also made to the Industrial Park with its president, Marita Moisés , and representatives from local companies such as Rizobacter , with whom discussions were held regarding the international projection of the productive sector.

The series culminated on August 29 with the event " Latin America on the Global Stage ." Santiago Ardisson presented a regional overview, accompanied by two guests: Pablo Majul , who discussed the benefits of the European Union-Mercosur Agreement for the city, and Silvana Pirchi , who presented the open government initiative developed in conjunction with the Fundación País Abierto Digital (Open Digital Country Foundation), funded by the European Union. The closing session included a call to action with proposals to further the internationalization of the municipality.

This cycle, the first activity of the Jean Monnet Module outside the City of Buenos Aires, had a prominent impact in local and regional media, and constituted a unique opportunity to bring the great international debates closer to the community, strengthening the ties between Pergamino, Europe and the world.
